Back It Up!
“The Internet is a fad” or “Why do they even need the Internet” I’ve heard it all from the beaufort chic. These poor dear souls will even pay $200 for the local PC shop to fix their computers. Here in beauuufort fixing or rather fix’n means they reinstall Windows *flavor* without backing up your data. Years of data cleared from a company computer at the low, low price of only $200! Now there was...

The Shellcoder’s Handbook
This is not a paid post - this is real life. Remembering the past… First of all my wife is incredible. I had rec’d a Christmas coupon/ticket/moneyThingy for use with Amazon and could not think of anything I needed so I passed it along to be used when needed. Val used it for grandmother Owens new grandchild reserving a little to purchase me a book from Amazon. She selected The Shellcoder’s...

Sober College
Moving through those party years can be a bit of an eye openner. For some folks it can be down right impossible without the help of qualified professionals. If you can’t continue then consider Drug rehab, substance abuse and addiction treatment center for young adults. Sober College, near Los Angeles in Southern California, provides drug rehab treatment and substance abuse counseling. Drug Rehab...

August and we get some decent weather…
It was cool enough today for the boys and girls to go outside. Boys? Well, there’s Thompson, above and his second-cousin twice-removed, Linus (named of course after… well, if you know me you know who.) Linus needs to be protected and if Frances (one of the girls) doesn’t do it, Ruth (another of the girls) fills the role. Linus is the one who’s afraid of thunderstorms. He and Thompson are Jack...

Andy Rubin and Google gphone production
In June 1, 2002 Julie Sloane wrote an article about Andy Rubin for FORTUNE Small Business. This was the beginnings of Danger, Inc. when they had been shopping around for funding. No surprise that Greg Galanos of Softbank Venture Partners invest $9 million in the start-up. Jump forward three years to Auguest 17, 2005 to when Google purchases Android and with it Andy Rubin. Andy had left Danger,...

Bariatric diet foods
This is another instance of not knowing just how fortunate I am. One of the options available to folks is Bariatric Surgery. This allows for a reduction in overall calorie from a narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract. Seems that one of the recommendation before surgery is to attempt to lose 10 or so pounds to hopefully reduce the chances of complications. You’re not going to be eating much, so...

Howto upgrade from Ubuntu Feisty to Gutsy
The Ubuntu Launch pad found at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu provides information on blah Gutsy Gibson, not this or odd choice using Gibson fghfghfgh IMO ubuntu has releases too often.. they should slow up and take a look at making the desktop OS more dumbed down for an average winblows user. 7.10 (Gutsy) ...

4-Week Weight Loss Starter-Kit
Double cheeseburger and a large strawberry shake cost $4.90 at Burger King. The taste does not sell me on this product. No, it is the convenience of the purchase and the consistency of quality. I’m there and back in 20 minutes without too much fuss. Up to about two months ago I did worry about the nutrition, or lack there of, but thoughts of my waist line never entered the equation. Well, next...

“Survivor” is in China this season
With over 9.5 million square miles to choose from, CBS execs had little problem finding an appropriate spot in this massive communist country. China might be the manufacturer of almost everything for sale at WalMart. It is reported that children work in factories. Survivor: Mattel? Survivor: Dogfood processing plant? I’m pretty sure this is the first communist government to host a hit US TV...

Travel Smart and Have Fun
My step-daughter and her husband took a vacation in Costa Rica this summer. When we asked what she did to prepare for the trip, she told us how important it is to acquaint one’s self with the cultural and social norms for the country. They hope to visit the Dominican Republic this winter. In the Dominican Republic, the service industry has replaced agriculture as a chief employer. The people are...

PostieCon in Vegas in November
Here’s a suggestion for the powers-that-be at PayPerPost. Ya’ll listening? Why don’t you have a contest for air fare to the convention? Do you know how much we’d like to be there and how far it is from the North Carolina coast? Can you give us some $$ incentives so we can afford coming out there? What say you? Help a poor guy out with air fare anyone? I have to bring my wife, though… and get...

Hypnosis for real
While searching for my spirituality, I came across a site with hypnosis downloads. Here’s the topic / download that interested me: Find your inner guide. For you, hypnotherapy might be what you need if you want to develop your breasts or have better luck. Or it could be you’d like to regress into a past life, maybe you need to stop smoking, or you want to conquer your fear of thunderstorms. The...

Ubuntu Linux Edgy and the HP PSC 1410v UPDATED
In January of this year I began using the HP PSC 1410v at work with Ubuntu Linux Fiesty. At that time I askd the following question. Does the HP PSC 1410 work with Linux? Well, it has been six months since then and so far so good. The printing and scanning work fine in daily use. The ink is somewhat expensive but if you set it to grey scale there should not be a problem with it lasting longer. ...

PayPerPost opportunity lost
I can’t help but be curious about how the PPPosties write the $35 ad opportunity that just surfaced and was quickly taken. It’s a discussion/comment on adult diapers and incontinence. Gonzales Gone!
It was reported this morning that Attorney General Roberto Gonzales will resign. Moderates, liberals and even some conservatives stood up and danced at their workstations when they heard the news. Scratch and win!
David’s company is getting ready for a big tradeshow in Houston, TX. He manufactures automatic toilet bowl cover dispensers. We were discussing what he could “give away”. Our backyard habitat is just booming with wildlife. Most of our new outdoor friends have at least four feet, some as many as eight. Futon covers for real.
It’s late, I’m getting ready for bed… I unfold the futon and straighten out the mattress. Then it hits me. *BLAMMO!!* right in the nose! Incredible spiders.
Apparently Mother Nature outdid herself when she came up with a grand design for my backyard. I love promotional items!
The quality of promotional items has certainly improved over the last few years. Looking across the vast span over which I’ve strewn at least five years of accumulated promotional detritus, it’s obvious there’s real affection for pens and coffee cups. The incredibly small rural southern town where my family and I live is creating quite a stir amongst the nautically-inclined. We’re on the Pamlico River. The big news? The city is...

Grandfather clocks are meant to be seen and heard!
Currently I’m lusting after a beauty of a grandfather clock. A Howard Miller which usually retails for over $3,500 but it’s online for under $2,700. Comes with free shipping in the continental US. It’s Bombay-styled with an American Cherry finish, constructed of gorgeous hardwoods and veneers. We used to have this great Seth Thomas wall clock, my mother told me it was a banjo clock.
